Hi please help..
I own a 2005 vauxhall vectra 3.0 cdti Sri auto estate.
I've just recent come across the problem while driving it sudden cuts out and some days it won't play up.
I called AA out yesterday as it wouldnt start first thing then it did.
Anyway the car called up no faults what's so ever.
He then took alook at the diesel filter and said there is slight bits of metal laying in the bottom of the filter housing and recommend taken the car to a garage.
Any way when he went I bought new diesel filter and cleaned out filter housing and replaced with new filter and seals.
Sine then perfect. Done about 70 miles. Decided to put my foot to the floor and then back to the same issue.
It runs like its running out of fuel then stalls. Then I put the car into park mode turn the key a 3 or 4 times and way she goes with a few coughs then it seems to correct itself.
Just gone out it in agin for a short trip and perfect not miss a beat. If anyone good guide me would be a great help..

This car is fitted with the Isuzu v6 diesel as found in Saab models and also the renault Espace and Velsatis.Fragments of metal in the fuel line is not a good sign.It is an indication that the engine driven fuel pump is breaking up.This is a massively expensive repair to fix.In my opinion not an economic proposition on a Vectra of this age.hth

A very good engine the 3.0 V6 diesel in the Vectra as mentioned probably because it is an Isuzu. It is better in the Vectra than the Saab as I believe the Saab had cooling issues in the tight engine bay.
However your car has a field remedy for this engine. The 3.0 V6 are rare so most dealers do not see one very often !
Hi.
Look what I found:
Field Remedy: 1957
Subject: Engine Y30DT, High Pressure Pump - Lack of power during acceleration
Models: Engines: Option:
Vectra-C 2003...2007,Signum 2003...2007 Y30DT| Z30DT,Y30DT| Z30DT
Complaint: Engine lack of power during acceleration. During investigation with TECH2 a pressure drop between actual rail pressure and desired rail pressure is visible.
Cause: Blocked suction control valve (SCV) within the high pressure pump.
Production: Modified production process (earlier changing of manufacturing tools, improved cleanliness) implemented at supplier. Countermeasures were implemented with engine number 69692 (01.09.2006).
Remedy:
Before carrying out Technical Service Bulletin 1957 update ECU with modified software as of TIS 2000-DVD, version 76 (a modified software regarding high pressure diagnosis was implemented, improved DTC: P0093 detection).
If the DTC still occurs refer to the following snapshots in datalist 2 "NOK I". The snapshot shows an increased fuel flow restriction within the fuel feed circuit.
1: desired fuel pressure 2: actuel fuel pressure
We recommend to disconnect the fuel lines from the tank to the filter, blow them by compressed air (in disconnected condition) and finally to replace the fuel filter assembly.
The snapshot in datalist 2 "NOK II" shows a constant drop of actual fuel pressure and identified the suction control valves (SCV) failure.
1: desired fuel pressure 2: actuel fuel pressure
In case of an identified suction control valves (SCV) failure replace both suction control valves (SCV) of the high pressure pump as discribed below.
Important: - During the complete procedure it is obligated to work in a clean environment. - Prevent contamination at SCV area. Small contaminations, which cannot be seen by eye, can cause major problems on engine performance. Particle size of 0,3 mm, can be already critical! - Do not use gloves. - Do not use SCV in case it has been dropped. - Make sure that pressure in the system is released before loosening the pressure connection pipe between pump and rail. - Disconnect battery after failure checking procedure. Wait for a few minutes before starting SCV replacement procedure in order to prevent any system action.

Thank you for reply. What are my options. Do I take it to main dealer or a diesel specialist . Or can I fix myself.

Think the problem has been resolved..
One of the quick release fuel line the middle one above the cambelt cover.
Was leaking.
I took alook down the pipe a noticed the yellow rubber seal was shown it had split and was very sloppy on the housing.
So I remove the compete rubber hose to the metal fuel line and replaced with new fuel line and jubbilee clipped both ends. Done 50 miles so far and seem fine.
I've asl add some diesel addive in the fuel today will give updates when done a few more miles.

Thought I've resolved the problem with fuel pipe . But it came back a few days later.
Decided to take to vauxhall main dealer. They done full check over and said its not shown any faults.
There next thought was to take alook in the fuel tank.. They found a lot of surge in the bottom of the tank and said that's a lot in a fuel tank they cleaned the fuel system and shown me photos of the surge. And clean the fuel lines. Now it feels like a diffract car running 100% and was only £225 for the work. Well pleased.
