ford fiesta 1.6tdci - fiesta - repair to steering - like driving on ice - sweep

Hi, I would be grateful for any advice on this. My fiesta had a "bolt" replaced a couple of weeks ago under warranty - its a 2010 fiesta that has done approx 45000 miles. It was done as part of a technical service bulletin - I took it in as the steering was making a clunky noise when parking etc. That's now gone - all they old me was it was a "bolt" that had been replaced and it was now secure.

I had new tyres fitted approx 6 weeks before this and the tracking done and the car was holding the road very well. since the repair the steering has gone very light and it feels like I am driving on wet, even like I am driving on ice at times, when the road is actually absolutely fine and sometimes is actually dry. I have checked tyre pressures etc and all is fine. It seems ok with a small amount of turning to the wheel, it grips fine - if you imagine the steering wheel usually at twelve o clock position. Once I turn it much beyond about 2 o'clock especially going round a roundabout if I try to go at anything over 20 mph it just seems to go really light and feels like it might skid. I know it won't but that's the sensation.

It's going back in next week for another job, so they will check it, but I would like to give them some help as I suspect they will say they can't find a problem!!!

any help would be appreciated

thanks

"Bolt replaced "

Which one and has it come loose ???? it could be a lower ball joint bolt !!!!!!!! I wouldnt drive untill its been checked. You must have it checked to make sure its safe to drive !If a lower arm comes apart whilst driving it may be goodbye !

Most likley the wheel alighmnet has too much toe in and make em feel like its on ice.

they didn't tell me!!! To be fair I didn't ask - I have looked for info on the internet as to whether there were any technical service bulletins about 2010 fiestas to try and get more info into what they did, but can't find anything. They implied it was in the steering column?

Re the lower arm - my friend had that happen in her subaru - thankfully she was only turning at the time!

What I don't get about the alignment is I had it done with the new tyres - before the steering repair - so it was done about 6 weeks ago, and all was fine until they replaced the mystery bolt!
