The fuel filler cap is either a broken spring (just a plate on the cap)or it wants retensioning.

The airbag light is a little more difficult as normally once the light comes on then you need to take it Peugeot to have it turned off but you say its intermittment to I suggest something else is causing to come on.

Your light problem is either a faulty bulb or a earth problem .

You need a good auto electrician and they do not come cheap and one with the Peugeot program called "Planet"

Hi,

Two things exactly the same as happened to me when I had a 406.

The air bag light is a well documented fault. Its caused by poor continuity in the plugs under the Driver & passenger seats. All you need to do is to unplug each connector, cut the plugs off and re-connect - for example red to red, yellow to yellow (colours used as an example) - soldering is the best method. This does away with the plugs which are the problem.

Fuel filler cap has a little plate which gets pushed when you operate the lever in the car. You will find this little plate has broken and the pin won't push it open. The only fix for this another filler cap - new or used will be fine - the new one isn't that expensive either.

Hope this helps

Do you not have to reset the warning light in the ECU on Peugeot 406s I thought this was mandatory.

On mine after I reconnected the battery after doing the work it was fine.

Disconnecting the battery for a while seems fool the ECU into thinking it has been reset(in fact it does reset) the same on BMWs and on Mercedes I am sure its true of a lot of cars.

Whether the ECU retains the fault in its memory I wouldn´t know I always use the proper programmer to reset the airbag light.

HDi Xantia has same problem with airbags as does Berlingo. Common across the PSA range I'd guess. Usualy follows one of us having carelessly stowed an item under the seat.

Once the connection's remade the light doesnot come on again at restart, Never had to do antything at ecu level to clear it.

hi

many thanks for your help

when i do this work on wireing should i disconnect battery?

also i tried to push with my hands under driver seats these plugs and sometimes did went off from dashboard but once i changed position on seats it came back again.sould i try both seats/driver-passanger/?

regarding for fuel cap,i tried to find on google to buy new or used but only option comes up for me as a cap to cover fuel pipe itself but what i need is a hole little door that cover a fuel pipe.

went to peugeout they charged me 150£ for investigation and as they said worst case i need a hole filler door and labour.i`ll keep looking around because i not really want to pay that much, but very unpleasant to ask always someone at petrol station to help me open fuel cap simply because i can`t reach from the opening lever and filler door.

do you think if i go some mechanic they can fix this or try to rob me?

thanks,kuntics1

Hi,

The replacement filler door is not expensive and I seem to remember its only a matter of sliding out a pin and the door is off. It depends if you want it painted though - you could do this with a couple of tins of areosol before fitting..

Really a simple job.

Hope this helps
