Any modern high speed diesel engine - shell fuel save diesel - 547HEW

Can anyone explain why Shell Fuel save diesel fuel is available one week/month, and not the next? I've noticed this to be the case in East Anglia. It is replaced with "regular diesel" labelling.

I had thought its absence co-incidental with liquididty issues at the Essex refinery, but Fuelsave became available again after that was in the news.

Would be interested in any info.

Thanks

Its because Shell are cynically selling ordinary diesel as soemthing special when in truth its just the same as all other diesel on the market.

Save your money and get supermarket diesel as cheap as you can. Might not have the smae additive package but since no one will tell you what they put in no one knows its worth the extra dosh.

In my experience supermarket fuel has worked fine for the 17 years I have owned a diesel.

Around where I live Shell and Esso are the same price as the supermarkets. So you might as well use Shell, it has got better additives, hasn't it???

It would be interesting for a lab to take random samples of all the different fuel brands and do a full analysis versus the EN590 spec.

However, even then it may not be meaningful because of contamination in forecourt tanks, variations in additive mixes etc.

I have seen Shell's own published specs for its FuelSave and V-Power diesel and interestingly, they indicate that FuelSave typically has higher cetane levels than V-Power.

Be very, very, wary of any attempt by the suppliers to introduce ethanol-diesel to the UK market.

It's very dangerous in an accident and could knacker your car.

So far it's been resisted by the government on safety, but how safe do you feel with the government?
