Peugeot 306 1.8 se cabriolet 2001 - Battery problems - roman

I have owned from new and it is in very good condition with only 70,000 miles.

I recently bought a new car and decided to garage the peugeot (which has been working fine) everything excellent never any problems.

I went to run up the engine after 3 weeks but the battery was flat (maybe I left something on or not).

After the charge she fired up and I ran the car. No probs. Checked all lights were off etc.

The next day I thought I would give the battery a check.. Flat.

Recharged and connected back up (battery always in place) .

I could hear a small buzzing noise from dash when I swicthed on (maybe a relay) . The car turned over but didn't fire I also notice my digital speedo an clock were blank.

Any ideas please

The battery is what is called in the trade "totally knackered".

Hmmm, I recharged battery an topped cells up and the charge remained as long as it was not connected to car. Indeed it turns the car engine very well. The voltage measured is correct. I am told that the alarm system can run the battery down if left connected for a period of time. I am told the car may be in disabled mode!! All electrics work apart from key fob and central locking , mileage indicator remains blank as does clock. And whilst engine fires there is no combustion.

(note wipes run well with full headlights on)
