I recently bought a mk 2 fiat punto (52 plate). When turning the key in the ignition it is very difficult to turn, and can take a few minutes to click it into place.
I know it is a common problem with these cars for the key to wear down, and therefore not turn the ignition very well, however, as i have 2 keys for it that both work all the other locks fine, i thought it might be a problem with the barrel.
I then bought a 2nd hand ignition barrel and matching key, that were moving freely.
With the new lock in, i removed the unique proggrammed chip out of 1 of the old keys (the small 1cm long capsule i presume?) and placed it in the new key, but whatever i do with the chip or key, i can't seem to make the CODE light go out, so i have 2 questions:
1. Does anyone know of any way i can make the new key and barrel, with old chip work in my car?
If not
2. How and where can i get a new key cut and programmed from a key that is probably worn already? (without paying FIAT main deraler prices? lol)
Thanks a lot, Joe
