Toyota Yaris d4d t3 2004 - Powe loss, then ok for 300 miles, now not start - hagrid1

My Yaris had a sudden loss of power, engine only ticking over and no throttle response. Engine management light came on. After couple of minutes, engine starts no problems for 300 miles, although getting more difficult to start. Engine won't start at all now.

I did notice couple of days before problem engine sounded really boomy/loud for a few miles but this disappeared.

Car has been serviced at recommended intervals and done 80,000 trouble free miles. had oil and filters changed just before breakdown,

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Possible poorly made fuel filter not sealing...probably nothing to do with that but worth checking.

Try priming the fuel up if it has a primer pump, if not remove filter and check its full of fuel.
