BMW 3 Series Compact E46 - Glue for door mirror glass - meldrew

Noticed a wobbly mirror today and when I got home gave it a prod. The glass came away from its backing plate unbroken.

Car is old so no need for a new glass which is quite expensive. Question is how to stick the glass back to its heated backing plate. Superglue round the edges? Thought of double sided sticky tape but that might not work with the heat.

Open to suggestions - fortunately the MoT was three days ago!

If you want something to stick to plain glass there is nothing better than silicone adhesive but it doesn't stick to other things so well.
