Ford Mondeo Si V6 1999 - Headlight levelling motor - Cicero

The offside headlamp levelling motor is running all the time when the lights are switched on. Whether the ignition is on or off makes no difference.

I have temporarily disconnected the motor while I seek help or inspiration. Can anyone suggest what the problem might be, please?

Yes, the levelling motor is knackered and needs replacing! Mine used to do exactly the same thing, took me ages to fathom out what the noise was.

I replaced my offside motor earlier this year, bought one on Ebay for a fiver.

Price from Ford is £120!

leave it disconnected .It is still possible to adjust the headlights on the manual screws.hth

I believe that, if headlight levelling is fitted, it has to work in order to pass the new 2012 MOT test.

Thanks to all for your swift replies.

When connected, the motor still adjusts the headlamp so it would pass the MOT, I think, but that is not until next year.

Meanwhile, I will leave it disconnected and see if I can source a motor at a reasonable price.
