Hello,my wifes key fob battery died on her today.

On opening the fob the battery fitted was a CR2016.

I only had spare CR2032's in my box of bits !

Anyway the battery fitted fine and off she went.

Am I right in thinking they are the same power ?

And that the 32's just last longer ?

Or should I buy the correct battery and fit it ?

Funny enough,Nissan fit both of these batterys to Micra fobs,depending on the spec of locking !

different size isn't it and possibly different voltage. you can get the correct batteries off e-bay or suchlike, but even nissan don't charge a fortune.

Yes its slightly thicker but fits OK The voltage is the same so I cant see what could go wrong really.

It should last longer I would have thought,but I still need to know for sure !

It fitted? That's odd.

As has been said before, the 2016 is thinner than the 2032, so it should be possible to fit a 2016 where a 2032 belongs, but not the other way around.

I wonder if it's supposed to take a 2032 but someone has previously fitted the wrong one? Might be worth a quick shufty at the manual, it'll probably have the correct details there, or sometimes it's even written on the fob somewhere.

The manual does'nt say,but I can check her handbook.

Funny enough it didnt do a Swan Dance,it just stopped working completly !
