2005 ford focus 1.6 tdci - power loss - wayne7

my 2005 ford focus 1.6 tdci as developed a power loss problem. it will be driving ok then all of a sudden it just as no power, as though there is a blockage in the fuel line. its only for a couple of seconds, it loses power, growls a little and gives out a puff of smoke and then its fine again for a few moments then it does it again. its generally ok at higher speeds. its just been serviced, all the filters done, fuel filter changed twice just in case that was the problem, and i always use shell v-power diesel or similar. please help.

I suspect it could be the turbo starting to fail ! I would get sonmeone who knows what they are doing to inspect the waer on the shaft.

Its a Known issue that is made worse by garages just replacing a turbo without looking for the cause ! may be worth checking number 3 injector seal to see if it has carbon around the base & if it does you know your in trouble before you start ! the contamination from the leaking injector ( which you wont see externally ) carbons up the engine internally and blocks the oil feeds to the turbo and brake pump and engine !
