'98 VW Polo 1.4CL - Droning noise from engine? - h0kum

Got a new noise coming from my car as of today. At around 20 it sounds like someone blowing air down a cardboard tube. As I accelerate it gets louder, around 40+ it sounds like an old prop driven airplane.

As best I can tell it's coming from the front, perhaps slightly to the left.

Any clues what this might be?

What does it sound like if you knock it into neutral and coast?

Check if you have a cover underneath the engine bay, it might not be secured properly & catching the wind & flapping up/down causing a vibration.
