Audi A4 - Little oblong shape on Audi door handles - Halmer
Can anyone enlighten me as to what the little oblong cut out is on the new Audi A4, for example, please?

That's how you can differentiate it from an A6. Not the handle .................the whole car! Everything else is identical!

If it is like MB it may be a sensor to enable you to open and close the windows from outside the car using the keyfob.

That's how you can differentiate it from an A6. Not the handle .................the whole car! Everything else is identical!

Possibly for an infrared sensor ? I have one of these myself and I dont really know either.

Is it the button to lock the doors when you leave the car.
When you get back to the car, you touch the underside of the handle to unlock.
You can only lock the door with this button if you have the key about your person, and if someone tries to lock via another button it will know they don't have the key and ignore them.

You can also hold the button to close all the windows.
