Peugeot 307 1.6HDi 110BHP - Power Steering Fluid - Rocketman

I need to top up power steering ASAP and according to manual fluid should be Total Fluide AT42-PR 9730.A3. Local pug dealer said he had some in so went to get it and dealer gave me Total Fluide AT DA which is as 9730.A5 spec. Ever so unhelpful counter assistant said "this is the only one we use for electric power steering pumps" it's what you asked for. Er no I asked for AT42-PR. Told to either take it of leave it.

Took but not topped up yet. It's similar in colour. Will it suffice? Any problems mixing them??

Thanks

A Google search came up with this....

mikrob.ru/download/file.php?id=151209

It's a PDF which you can save and read at your leisure.

Page 12 tells us that the following Total Power steering fluids are recommended -

TOTAL Fluide DA
TOTAL Fluide ATX
TOTAL Fluide AT 42

Page 10 tells us that that 'DA' is recommended for cold weather use.

My own thoughts are... You've got power steering. Top it up with power steering or ATM fluid. The red stuff. Available from all car-parts shops.

An afterthought..

Page 19 tells us that Total Fluide DA is recommended for the Peugeot 307, so it'll be allright for yours. Strikes me that 'DA' is a slightly better spec than 'AT42'. Like back in the old days, when they told you to use either Drum Brake Fluid, or Disc Brake Fluid. Obviously, Disc Brake Fluid would take higher temperatures, so why would anyone want to buy Drum brake Fluid any more?

Page 10 of this PDF tells us that 9730.A5 is OK.

Thank you MrEckerslikefromRamsbottom. I'll get it done later and let you know how it gets on. Stupid price as ever from a dealer.
