Wish to do an annual oil / filter change after 12 months which is not 'required' according to the service schedule for multiair engines.

Filter appears top left of engine block viewed from front of car but is of unusual appearance[to me] and if removed likely to waste oil all over the place.

Is removal/replacement as easy as it should be?
