3 Simple Driving Safety Tips - Huon.cloutier

Road fatalities have turned into one of the biggest 'killers' in modern society. One of the biggest reasons for road mishaps is 'speed'. So, the simplest solution is to slow down speed. The speed associated limitations are imposed on drivers for safety concerns. So, it is their duty to pay attention to speed signs and even restrict the speed to ten k/h under what sign says.

1. The basic rule is to 'slow down' to take corner successfully. Weather condition is another area that you need to give special attention.

2. Alcohol is another major reason for road mishaps. It is human nature to believe that they know what they are doing, particularly when they are drinking.

3. A simple rule to keep in mind for driving safely is common civility. If one allows others to go ahead, one can save various probable troubles on the road from happening.

The real problem with speed limit signs is that they are often inappropriate for the type of road and the surrounding area, the same goes for road design and engineering. It does rather debase the message they are attempting to convey. However, having said that, I agree that bad driving is avoidable and indefensible, no matter what signs and road conditions common sense should prevail. In that repect I would urge drivers to behave in their cars' as they would on foot. No one would dream of barging past another pedestrian or abruptly cutting in to get through a doorway, but such anti-social behaviour is common in motorists. It is all common sense and good manners. Cheers. Concrete

As well as all the good advice already given, my tip would be, turn your mobile phone OFF when driving.

Agree absolutely - I can't understand why so many people find that difficult.

One of the joys of driving is that with my phone off, no-one can ring me up. I always check the voicemail at the end of a journey.

Another bit of advice that is obvious really, but lots of drivers miss it.

That is - don't overtake when there's minor road junction on the other side of the road. What happens if a car turns left out of that junction? A head-on collision scenario. The same applies if there's a lay-by on the other side of the road with a vehicle in it.

The other side of the same situation is 'always look both right AND left before turning left onto a main road - there could be a car overtaking.
