2000 vauxhall vectra 2.0 cdx - vauxhall vectra mass air flow meter problem - melvyn

just a quick question

my vectra is running very rough and i suspected a problem with the mass air flow meter

so i removed the electrical connector turned on the ignition and put a volt meter between the live and earth on the connector to see if power was being supplied to the maf and to my suprise it only returned a reading of 7.38 volts, if i put one end of the volt meter to live on the maf connector and the other to earth on the battery i get a full 12 volt reading

is 7.38 volts using the live and earth on the connector normal
