Firstly these suffer with sticking EGR valves that can cause rough running at low RPM.
2nd well known problem on the 2.0D is the wires break internally inside the plug for the airflow meter, turning right exagerating the problem. You wont find a broken wire as the strands break inside. Well documented fault with anyone with jaguar knowledge.
3rd The injectors do loose their coding at around 70,000 miles and need re-coding. One way of detecting this is when very cold start up and hold RPM at 1100 rpm, it may start missfiring or running a touch lumpy, can sometimes be felt at 1750 rpm at 2250 rpm but needs holding 100% steady at the RPM when stationary and you may feel a very slight missfire.
I would suggest a good injection specialist who knows what he's doing will fix it. Wiring to the pressure rail sensor needs to be sound as well
good luck. airflow meter wiring or injectors is where my money is on your discription
