Vauxhall Vectra B 2.0 - Flat battery - Peter

An 'X' reg model.

The battery regularly goes flat if the car is not used for a few days.

Would anyone have any ideas on what might be draining the battery and how to look for the offending item.

Many thanks in advance.

How old is the battery. Have you checked the quiescent current drain on the battery. Do you have a digital multi meter. Regards Peter

Disconnect the + lead from the battery and connect an amp meter between the lead and terminal post with everything switched off - check the current flowing, if its any more than about 100m/a there is something drawing current. Try removing the fuses one at a time and when the current drops sharply check to see what the fuse supplies. If the current consumption is not excessive you probably need a new battery.

Car alarm when the vehicle is left locked for a few days?

It was the first indicator that we needed a new battery for the CRV.
