I have a 2000 (X reg) Megane 1.6 16v that has become difficult to start when cold. It has gradually got worse the past few days. It turns over fine but refuses to start as easily as before and when it does it's very rough with a fast idle, with misfiring and smoke from the exhaust which it never has done before this problem. From under the bonnet there's a slight smell of petrol, again not usual for it. It will hesitate on pulling away but once the engine is warm everything is fine. I've been told it could be a coil but more likely to be the Coolant Temperature Sensor. Any ideas as I would like to sort this out before I put it in for the MOT which is due in a week. Thanks.
