N/A - All the toys? - expatsFL

AS I am coming back to the UK from the USA next month, looking to buy a 2/3 yr old car with great MPG and compact/mid sized 15k. Have looked at the 320d, a4, merc 220 cdi, golf tdi, passat tdi and mondeo tdci BUT My ? is....what toys are must haves to you. ie traction control ESP, electric everytthing, cruise etc etc. Just what are must haves. (Oh I should add I will not be doing more than 4k miles a year in the first 3 yrs then towing a caravan for 2 years!)

The size of the caravan will influence your choice, and others' recommendations.

You're the one who should know what "toys" you want/need.

Land Rover Freelanders usually have a lot of standard kit. Lexus IS220 also pretty well loaded.

I am puzzled why the OP is worried about fuel consumption if they only do 4K miles per year.

Good point Steve.......its the re sale as well I am thinking about. If I bought a .......say......1.6 golf tdi bluemotion for instance and then wanted to trade to a ....passat/mondeo to go caravanning after 3 years, I think I would get a better trade in price.. I;m not stuck on a diesel at all, just want a bit o comfort/style etc. 15k ish cash! My 1st car was a mk II cortina which came with a wheel in each corner and that was basically it ( lol ), so looking for a bit of style and comfort etc.

Save messing about changing just buy an e class petrol or diesel all the rest are second best.

What a way to spend your money.

But to answer the question - aircon and sunroof, cruise, automatic transmission, leather, RDS radio/CD plus smart 4wd, self-levelling suspension and full-size spare if towing.

Not bothered about TSP as modern caravans have their own stability systems

Air con, cruise control, a working radio with cd player,comfy seats, a spare wheel not a can of gunk, forward firing missiles, bullet proof and bomb proof body, ejector seats, more fire power than the Terminator had, floats on water, fly in the air.
