My wife was stopped yesterday and informed that her licence was revoked in 2008.
The police had no idea why and told her to contact dvla. They also said she was uninsured which is untrue as i myself set up the policy myself a few days ago as we've just changed our car.Her insurance certificate should be here tomorrow at the latest ,so showing the insurance tomorrow should be no problem.
We are not aware of any reason that her licence should be revoked and we're both worried as they seized the car and knowing dvla and how slow they are,it could take weeks to sort out, meanwhile the storage rate will soar at £25 a day and we'll lose the car altogether.
Any advice will be gratefully received.steve

I forgot to add that my wife has been stopped twice in the last 2 years and thorough checks were done both times at the roadside but nothing ever mentioned about her licence either time.

It can take a few days for your insurance co to update the MIB database.

Photocard driving licences have to be renewed with a new photo & £20 fee every 10 years. I don't know if failure to renew it would lead to its revocation.

Your wife does not need to collect the car. Anyone, with a licence to drive it and insurance on it will meet the requirements. As most husband/wives are covered to drive each others cars the obvious choice is you.

As for the insurance not showing - can be the case with new policies where the database has not yet been updated.

Our insurance certificate arrived today and had the wrong reg number and body type on it.Thats now been rectified and i added a friend to the policy which reduced the premium by £38.Still have dvla to tackle yet but insured my friend to drive the car to enable it's release from the pound.I dont drive myself hence the reason i cant collect it.

I forgot to add that my wife has been stopped twice in the last 2 years

I have driven for 47 years and never been stopped by the police.
Does this tell you something about the style/speed of your wife's driving?

I have a son who has been flagged down 2 x in 10 years for speeding - 60 in a 50 and 90 on the motorway - he has now slowed down after the last ticking off from the Road Traffic Patrolman.

The 1st time my wife was stopped it was a so called routine stop with no problems with her driving being mentioned, the 2nd time was down to the insurer not updating the mid database throwing up a flag when she passed a traffic car with it's hi tech gear.

Peter she's contacting dvla on her way to work so i'll keep you all updated later on when she gets home..steve
