Citroen Xsara 'Y' Reg - Loosing coolent water - propolis

Hi,

I seem to be loosing water from my radiator coolant bottle.

I have to add 0.5 litres every day. Driving long distance I have no broblems, sitting in traffic and start stop traffice causes the coolent warning lite to come on. When I then drive the coolent warning lite goes out. The car never overheats

Also, I cant see where the water is leaking, also no water in the oil.

Any suggestions much appreciated

Hi Eddie

If there are no obvious leaks check around the coolant filler cap and overflow pipe for signs of dry coolant, it could be that the head gasket is leaking, pressurising the system and blowing the water out. Try the effect od leaving the filler cap loose, this may allow the pressure to escape but it also lowers the boiling point of the water so don't belt it.!
