It's been a while since I visited here, I'd almost forgotten I had an account!

Anyway. To those still here since I last visited - hope you're all well and still helping us poor souls out with our Car issues and questions.

I've spent the last couple of months looking at Left Hand Drive cars for a very specific purpose, to be used for approx 4-6 weeks per year but must be registered in Portugal

It's a long story, but I have family in a specific part of Portugal and we visit often, but the cost of renting a car with at least 6 seats is exorbitant for a few weeks a year (often costs in excess of £500 per week including insurance).

The problem is that to buy a car in Portugal has a major headache - they have an extortionate tax system which means that cars from new have 100% tax applied. Imported cars from other countries have a sliding scale discount dependent mainly on age applied, but caps out at 51% after 5 years old. If you're 'resident' you can get around this by owning a car for 6 months in another country.

So, I'm looking to purchase a 6-7 seat car at around 10-11 years old which is LHD, and preferably UK registered. Budget around £2000

Looked at Eurovans (Citroen Evasion, 806, Ulysses) Ford Galaxy & floorpan clones, Renault Espace.

Trouble is there are not many options for LHD MPV's of this age. Wondering if any Forum members have any other suggestions and of course any ideas of whether trade or private sale would be better...

Still got me Touran and Citroen C8 for UK !

Thanks

Charles

Many thanks. I'd seen that one, I was looking for recommendations on make/model, as the age I'm looking at they are scarce.
