just getting valuations to calculate the running costs of my car since i have had her for 1 year now, and checked a few including webuy... valuations from web and a couple of local dealers, they were low, but not the lowest, (offered between £4000 and £5900 but seeing the retail prices of cars, some of the dealers must be hoping to make 100% profit.

We've had motor dealers, especially car supermarkets and franchised dealers over a barrel for many years now and they will be looking to fight back. No question of that.

They do fight back! previous MGZT 160 immaculate low mileage I got £2300 sold £4000. Lacetti sw 1600 low mileage I got £3000 sold £5000, none of these main dealers, both indies!

(but there again I had my usage out of both cars, and sold at the right time for me).

With the site rent and business rates and insurance that the independant dealers pay getting 5k for a car they paid 3k for is bare minimum to be honest.

Plus the fact that people feel no compunction about offloading a lemon to a dealer-in fact they see it as a badge of honour. You pay for the convenience of a quick sale. If you want more, advertise privately.

The amount of rotboxes dealers get left with can be a problem so you cant blame them for eeking every pound profit out of the odd half good car they get hold of.

And while researching th value of my car, curiously have found it advertised for sale in the north of england? now isn't that strange! Complete with registration number, but still parked outside my front door. I'm in wales!

Quite frankly, it is surely incredible that these web-based outfits manage to be in business at all, I can't think of a more obviously dubious way of selling a car. How does anybody fail to see what a rip-off it is?!
