Normally to start the car the transmission must be in neutral and the footbrake pressed. Occasionally 3 times in the last 12 months turning the key does nothing even though the dash indicates neutral is selected.

My work around is to disconnect a battery terminal for a few seconds then reconnect. This seems to reboot the computer and the car starts ok.

Any ideas as to how to cure this?
