I live halfway up a 1 in 4 in Wales and my Landcruiser has been of enormous benefit in the snow. However it is expensive to run so I was looking for a smaller SUV as a replacement. The RAV 4 looked ideal until we found it now comes without a spare wheel, just a foam can. We occasionally take long trips through France and have suffered several punctures in the past . You can't go far on runflats or foam and replacements can be hard to find (and expensive) in the middle of the continent on a Sunday. Also foam won't work on blow outs or large punctures. It seems that manufacturers are omitting spares now in the interests of reducing weight and carbon emissions . It would be useful to have a list of UK cars which still have a spare. Does anybody know of one?
