Reccently brought a 'P' reg 306, it ran fine for afew days with no problem. Drove to work yesterday and put in petrol has light had just come on. Drove to work fine, no probs. 12 hours later went to start and nothing. No ignition lights, no power to centre password console (That where where you input a 4-digit code) Would not start from jump leads and would not bump start. Any ideas as to what this might be?

A light just came on did you not think to stop and find out what it was.I will hazard a guess and say the alternator has packed in and you have a total flat battery.

Check all the battery conexions are clean & tight.

Check the earth cable where it connects to the body is the same.

I think you did!! ^^^^^^ (although you insinuated it was a low fuel light - which it may have been - or it may not have been!)

My 206 used to do this. Problem was a loose +ve battery terminal; not the lead on to the battery but the terminal coming loose from the battery underneath it, Cured it by wedging a washer between the battery and the terminal.
