Advice desperately needed. Car broke down due to lack of water. I had checked top up bottle before I left but apparently you need to also check the radiator on these cars too. RAC towed me into Newbury garage where they took the engine apart and said it was "well cooked". They had the head skimmed (1mm) but quoted over £1000 to put it back together with no guarantee of it working so I fetched it back to Northants in peices. I have since rebuilt it but there is no spark at plugs and it sounds like I have no compression in the engine. There doesn't seem to be any sign of a bent valve. Am I missing something? Not sure whether to just get new engine or continue to trywith current one. Please help.
