Hi all. Few problems have lead me to this site.. I have a 2003 Saxo Desire 1.5D, and over the past few days I have been unable to start it. First of all there was life in the Battery (only 3mths old) - Now Flat - even doing a jumpstart does'nt get the car to start. (theres about 5litres of Diesel in it) Got a Jump start 5-1 thingy, connected that up - Turned key - Battery, Engine Auto Diagnosis light flash, and it starts to click rapidly - Also the fuel needle doesnt budge (I know theres fuel in it). Disconectted the Jumpstart kit, thought I'll jus check fuel level - turned key to M (ignition) and the folowing flash/ remain stable on the dash: Electronic Immobiliser Ignition Key - Flashes Battery Charge - Flashes Engine Oil Pressure - Flashes Air Bag Warning - Stable Diesel Preheater - Flashes Handbreak warning - Flashes Engine Auto Diagnosis - Flashes
Thursday night i got the AA out on homestart:
the battery was boosted, new glow plugs were fitted (cheekly asked him to fit the ones i had purchased) Success came again with the car turning over then eventually started, however it was "chasing" with the rev counter droping 10 to 5 whilst the accelerator was not touched... he adjusted some little nuts on something (greything at the front of the motor accelerator?) which kept the rev's level. However the vehicle is smoking. He then turned off the engine, and restarted it - it took quite awhile in turning over and finaly kicked in, back to the rev's droping up and down, but then he took his foot off the accelerator and the car cut out. Now the car is back to square one with it not starting! He has stated that it looks like its either a Fuel Pump or Injector Fault.... Now I've rang a garage whom have said its going to be £65 per hour, plus diagnostics of the items --- roughly worked it out that diagnostics would be around £300 before any work was done!! Is there anything that I could do to, fix/examin myself with the fuel pump and injectors?? Im not affraid of getting the hands dirty aslong as i have decent advice and a guide to follow.
