Hi hi 153, not having a pop at you in any way & apologies if it came over that I was.
If someone else pranged you I'm definitely in favour of the guilty party making good your losses.
My concern is that when loss recovery businesses get involved the settlements seem to go higher & higher. Is this explained by them simply being very good at their job & maximising the settlement for their client or is it because the settlements get inflated in order to maximise their return?
I was involved in an acident a number of years ago & the solicitor asked me if I had suffered any injury; I said no. He then told me that if I went to Dr So & So on his recomendation this Dr may determine that I had in fact suffered whiplash which would give me £500. I did not but another person involved did so.
About 5 years ago my brand new Vectra was bumped by a neighbour resulting in 3 days off road for body repairs. The repairer gave me a Corsa loan car; it got me from A to B for 3 days. An accident management co would have insisted on a like for like car with their wack on top. Do I think you should be entitled to a replacement BMW for the time yours is off the road - yes, if you lke, I just think that the guilty party should pay for the difference not the insurance.
Anyway, good luck with getting your car & financials sorted out quickly
