Hi all, Doing some home repairs on the car, changed the head gasket, and the car won't start afterwards. The starter motor does not crank when I turn the key and no fuel is getting to the injectors.

So, to cover the other stuff... I've checked the timing, I've made sure fuel is getting to the pump, I've run a wire from the starter solenoid to the battery and the engine turns over but does not start, I've opened the fuel injector pipes to let air out of the system, so far nothing. I even looked for the fuel cut-off switch mentioned on petrol cars but there isn't one.

I would run a wire to the fuel solenoid but it's inside the fuel pump housing and I can't reach it, I'd by-pass it but I don't know which of the three thin wires I'd need to bypass.

I suspect the immobiliser has activated for some reason because that's the only thing I can think of that would stop both the starter motor and the fuel cut off solenoid from working while everything else works fine.

Any help, thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think you are probably correct in your assumption, if the supply to the starter solonoid is not present its quite likely that the fuel solonoid is not being activated either. As you say the solonid connection is buried in the pump for security reasons and I think there is actually a chip inside the armouring.

If you can find the common feed and connect it permantly to 12 volts that should overcome the problem, if not I can only suggest that you fit an earlier type pump that has an exposed solonoid.
