Hi all
Had a strange one today. Drove my 306 back from work pretty fast and when I got home cooling fan remained on at full pelt for about 15 minutes after I'd stopped and switched off the ignition.
Naturally this drained the battery somewhat, but by giving the car a hefty rev alongside the ignition it did get going. I took it for a short spin to get the battery charged but when I returned I got a nasty surprise. The engine stayed running even when I turned off the ignition and removed the key! I had to manually stall it to get it to stop. Unsurprisingly the cooling fan came on again though and I expect when I return to the car the battery may well be completely gone.
There's a few possibilities that seem to come up (fan sensor, fuel cutoff solenoid, wiring) but whatever I do it'll need to go to the garage (after a jump start) as if it's wiring there's a fire risk. Any ideas if I'm on the right track with diagnosis and how much it will cost to deal with?
