3 yrs ago one of my boys had similar issues with Sky & BT Line. Sky said HD box must be connected as per contract but this upset the phone - engaged / no dial tone...........
Letters threats of cancelling by Sky + Penalty charges for breaking contract etc ....................took months and was never resolved by BT or Sky. Sky accepted after 9 months he was blameless and Sky+HD was never connected to phone line.
For the hassle Sky gave him he complained about their attitude, their engineer failing to keep pre-arranged dates and appt times, failure to see HD signal,,,,,,,,,,,,,,he threatened them with harassment and got 6 months of all channels foc!!
He moved house 6 months ago, new Sky dish/box and all is now well
