vw Golf mk 4 - Not turning over - seaking202

Hi, been away for three months left my car with my brother now the car wont start. it was turning over before he changed the battery i think he may have connected the terminals the wrong way round. i have checked the fuses on top of the battery all good and also the ones in the fuse box. have i missed any? also could this be an alarm problem as the solinoid will not even click. all the lights on dash board light up and the heater relay clicks any ideas?

If the battery had been connected the wrong way round it would likely have done considerable damage to the electrics, the fact that no fuses have blown and some of the electrics work would indicate otherwise. It sounds as though either there is no voltage reaching the starter solonoid or its faulty. Try connecting a length of wire from the battery + to the small terminal on the starter, solonoid if it then operates you probably have an alarm or ingnition switch problem.
