to cut along story short, my timing belt snapped 2 days before it was booked in to get changed :0/ had it towed to a garage (this was last april). they had it 15 weeks trying to rebuild the engine. finally get it back. 1st time i take it on a long trip (70 miles) 1 side of the engine drops because a bolt snaps. the aa tow it back to the same garage. i ask them to check the timing as the cover is dislodged. use it for another 1500 miles/5 months & now it has bent valves & they want another £1000 to fix it. it's out of it's 3 month warrenty given for the rebuild & the original bill was £1300. i can't for the life of me find my receipt & i'm sure if the garage ask me to produce it & i can't, they'll deny all knowledge of my car being in their garage. the garage owner is telling me that the problem has been caused due to the bad weather & that it was frozen but surely it shouldn't have left the garage originally without enough anti freeze in it. the car isn't my everyday car as i have a large family. we only use it for long journeys & i check the oil / water before each trip. i haven't had to top the water up so cannot have diluted the anti freeze that he should have put in after the enitial rebuild. it is currently at another garage as when i called the aa out the said starter motor problem. it goes to the auto electrics, new starter motor, still doesn't start but now 'turns over'. they send it to the garage where it is now & i owe them £150 for them to tell me bent valves. gutted!! any advice would be much appreciated as i do not have the money for another big repair. kind regards. x
