Assuming the replacement alternator is OK the only thing that is likely to stop it charging is lack of exciter voltage, this is normally fed through the charge lamp, does yours come on?

As an experiment you can bypass it by connecting a wire from battery + to the small terminal on the alternator, if its OK it should then charge.

You should have around 14 volts across the battery with the engine running if its charging OK.
