These seem very well priced on Autotrader. Are they any good? Also what about Vauxhall Astra 1.7s and 2.0 dti's?

Had the Nissan dCi as a loan car about 6 years ago. I recall being impressed with its performance- went like a rocket - and very low revs motorway cruising (I think it was 1800 revs at 70 mph). Bewareof the earlier di- had a less advanced engine.

Downside was it was a bit cramped in the back seats and the boot size was only average. Some colleagues complained about poor visibility to the rear.

I am a fan of Nissan petrol engines but have come across many negatives regarding the diesel engines. I would be wary about buying one. However, if one is cheap and the potential risks are known .........

Family member has a 1500 petrol- it drives and cruises quietly and owner is happy with it.

di was a very, very solid, if agricultural engine. As a workhorse, there is little better.

dCi was a loused-up adaptation of the Renault dCi, an engine which was already a dog in its early-2000s guise. I'd have the older car in all honesty.
