Skoda Felicia - leaky rad and dodgy auto choke... - cosmicjazzer

I'm flat broke (!) but in need of a very cheap estate car. Just seen a '97 Felicia with Mot till July and tax tll March. I believe seller will take £350. Seems like 'an honest car'...

All is good according to seller except that the auto choke is a little temperamental - car needs to be warmed up for 5 mins before driving on cold days; also there is apparently a tiny leak from the Rad..

I get a good vibe from seller and this seems like a reasonable price, but I'm just a bit worried about the leaking rad. The question is: Can a small leak be fixed with Radweld or similar? Also, is the choke prob likely to develop into a major issue?

You say you are broke then its not the car for you unless you like a gamble,a crystal ball might tell you.The radiator you might fix with radweld but I would have thought the person selling the car would have already tried that, the choke is a different matter could be something and nothing or a money pit and do not forget mechanics are not cheap. On the plus side parts are cheaply available and plentiful.

Many thanks for the reply. Yes, in the cool light of day it does seem like too much of a gamble. It was the tax and MOT plus cheap price that appealed to me but I know it could so easily cost so much more in the long run. Think I'll keep looking! :)
