Either the glow plug relay does not work.. in which case the glowplugs will not heat up .. or the engine is not getting an enriched mixture.. (which suggests the engine temperature sensor is kaput).
As your engine does start with Quick Start, I assume it's the relay. Simple check: remove one glowplug and wire it up. Earth it to the engine. Switch on the ignition key. Does it glow? If yes, the relay works.
WARNING: the glowplug gets very hot. Wear heatproof gloves or use a pair of pliars to hold glowplug. Or you will burn. Do NOT earth the lead wire to the glowplug directly or you may short out electrics..
Sorry for grandmother and eggs stuff.
If all the above work, test the voltage from the engine temperature sensor when engine is cold and when hot. If the same, it's kaput.
Apologies but I have zero knowledge of the engine - the above is general fault finding.
