SAAB 9-3 - SAAB 9-3 TiD Engine Light on and loss the power - Hui TJ

Model 2004, 2.2 TiD. I have problem is the Engine Light is on after checking.. The light has come on countless times. After long journeys it'll come on and stay on for longer and loss of power. If I park the car for while, It will be back to normal. My friend a litter bit know the car. He said, It could be Air Flow Meters problem. Does anybody has same problem? How do you fixed it? Can I do it for DIY? Please advice ! thanks !

Its a common fault with these engines used in Vectras and Alfas it is more than likely the egr valve if you go on one of the Saab forums there are umpteen posts with the same problem.If its not the egr then the turbo is the next place to look generally they are both chocked up .

Thanks for you reply, I am sure is not turbo's problem. So you know how can I test that, Is this problem or not !

You need to remove the EGR clean it thoroughly and check to see if its solonoid works correctly.I will be most suprised if the turbo is not sooted up if the egr is.

2 weeks ago ! I hear a big voice from under of car, then power steering gone and battery low. I open the front of cap. find the fan belt is no running.....

Next day, Garage told me that, the Crankshaft pulley is broken and I paid 293euro + VAT + Labour.

1 week after, the same things happened again. but this time nothing brokered. only fan belt creep down.

Garage fixed the fan belt. But when I turn right or left, some sound come from under the car.

Any idea for this problem ! thanks
