Peugeot 306 - Peculiar noise from air con vents - gavmoffat

Evening, new to the threads.

I bought a 2000 306 last month and today a strange crackling noise started coming from the air con vent at the passenger's side corner. It's only noticeable when the car is moving, from about 10 mph or so.

If I put the air con on when the car is stationary, the crackling noise disappears, but if I listen closely to the same vent it does sound a bit less smooth than the others, almost like it's struggling. The strength of the airflow seems fine though.

I did have to get the dealer to fix the air con before I bought it, as the air pressure was so weak it was effectively useless, but it's been working fine since. Could these be related? Or is it likely just a clogged up vent?

Thanks!

Sounds as though there is something floating about in the pipe / vent possibly bits of leaves that have come in the air intake.

Agree with Peter this time of the year leaves falling.

Thanks gents, bearing in mind I have to park it under a tree, and it's covered in leaves every morning, I think that could be mystery solved!

Now the hard part, how do I get it out? It's my first car so pretty clueless about DIY on it.

Thanks again

Peter might have a better answer than me but from the inside of the car could you use a hoover with a small nozzle near the vent to get writ of any leaves? Also open the bonnett and clear any leaves or rubbish.

If you've got air-con then I'd have thought you've got a pollen filter and that should stop anything as large as a leaf - unless of course it's not fitted?

Could it be something as simple as leaves under the bonnet? Lift your bonnet and clear away all you can see, particularly in the area immediately under the windscreen.
