Honda Accord - A wheel dilemma - Gotanoldhondar

Hello to all looking for a bit of advice,i have a Honda accord dtec solid car very happy with it,but one thing annoys me about it there is no spare or space saver which is bad for a car like this,it comes with the foam which fortunately has not been needed in 18 months of ownership.I do around 20k a year including long runs out with the family and would like to know should i get one or the other or not bother ?

If you shred the tyre on a saturday night on the motorway foam will be no good and it will be a little bit expensive to get a tow in and a new tyre fitted whereas if you have a spare its only a inconvenience.

I had an accord 03 reg and bought a space saver spare from honda. Cost about £100 i think but was worth it for peace of mind.

I took the spacesaver out the focus and replaced it with a full spare.Driving abroad ones in a while peace of mind is the main thing for me.And being a member of a breakdown organisation .

Yes,the foam is not going to be enough in a certain situation i agree,i would prefer to get a proper spare but honda said it will not fit in the boot compartment which rules it out as we need all the space available for the family.It looks like it is going to be a space saver kit for £155 say honda,oh well, as has been said peace of mind on long trips and i am maybe pushing my luck with the foam.

I bought a space saver from Honda for my 2006 accord tourer in June, however, it was £130. A full size spare would fit in the tourer's boot but after 2 months of searching on ebay and local scrapyards I couldn't find one. I was about to go camping in France and was not prepared to risk the foam.

I am going to wait until the next service and see if i can a better price than £155,or i could put it on my christmas list ,but would it fit under the tree....

I saw a focus ST owner stuck by the side of the road with his car on a jack while the breakdown truck took his wheel off with him to try and get a tyre fitted

Thats what you get with no spare

Worst bit was he was stuck in a very dodgy area
