Considering a nearly new Modeo 2.0 TDCI 140ps. Any guidance particularly on genuine MPG I might expect?

I have an Mondeo Titanium Estate and get 40MPG easily and I am not a gentle driver, I have achieved 54MPG being very gentle on a journey that was predominately Motorway, when I have my sensible head on, it averages 44 MPG, tho nearly all my journeys are just me in the vehicle.(Tho I am a Fat Bloke!!)

I've nearly 30,000 miles up in 2 and half years, 2.0 TDCI Zetec estate manual on the standard 215/55 16" wheels. In that time it's averaged a genuine 42.5mpg measured at the pumps, not on the computer.

Best tankful is 47mpg, worst is 37. My driving is 70% town driving (typically journeys of 5 miles or less) and 30% open road / motorway. No DPF problems.

On very short journeys i get 36mpg.On a bit of a run it goes up to 38mpg(still round town) and then on to the motorway i got 51mpg full laden averaging 70mph.I feel i probably could have got more if i'd have stuck to 60ish and didn't have a boot full of suitcases!

The car only has 5000 miles on the clock so theres room for improvement yet!
