Volkswagen Golf IV - SPEEDING, CAMERA FLASH BUT NO POINTS.. LUCKY!! - essex619

Driving in essex on 18th September 2010 at approx 10.30pm, from a friends house to a ngiht out. Had an undercover bmw police car behind me did not notice.

I went past a speed camera (30mph) on my side of the road, and then sped off very quickly doing about 55-60mph in a 30mph zone and set off the speed camera on the otherside. The undercover cop chased up and pulled me to the side.

Done a quick registration check and insurance, had a word with me about what I did which was awful etc. she was a nice pretty young lady for a police lol anyways kindly let me off and most importantly got no points.

I could have got upto 6 points, 3 for speeding and 3 for reckless driving..

how lucky!!! am i??

Why did you speed off doing 55-60 in a 30mph area?

What's clever or lucky about it all
Volkswagen Golf IV - SPEEDING, CAMERA FLASH BUT NO POINTS.. LUCKY!! - PatrickO

The op didn't say it was clever of them to behave in the way they did, they said they we're lucky not to be prosecuted, read the post.

You was lucky,if you did 55 to 60 mph in a 30 mph zone. Not to have 3 points and a fine.I was wondering why after the camara you increased speed to over 55mph?Good policing on there behalf just remember the lesson.

read the post.

I did read the post, that's why I'm entitled to respond to it.

I asked why the OP had increased his speed to 55-60 when he was still in a 30 zone

We still haven't had the explanation for that

The op noticed the bmw in his mirrow ,and wanted to race a bit bmw, is quicker.

Perhaps the police that stopped you assume you'll be getting something in the post as a result of the camera that flashed you?

Right let me make it clear some of you guys got confused with my post lol

I was in the 30 zone doing 55-60mph when the undercover bmw was behind me, I went past a traffic camera on the right facing me which I have done many times before and it never has come through the post.

The police saw all of this they even showed me a clip in their pursuit car.. anyways, I was out of town from where I live about 10-15miles away, I spoke to the nice women and told her that I was not from the area etc. I admitted to everything I did and not lie and she said let it be a lesson and make sure this does not occur again...

where she stopped me, we had a sign saying 50mph infront of us...so she stopped me in a 30mph zone... anyway not all police officers are bad, its how you approach the situation, keep calm, do not lie and you have more chances to get away.. and dont use excuses... coz they heard it all it makes matters worst infact..

If they give you a ticket, let them.... but I was very lucky and im nearly 20 yrs of age so been on the road for nearly 3yrs, its shocking how she let someone my age who tend to cause voilence on the road and especially in a vw golf.. lol

All I can say is.. I've been very lucky! and yes for a while I'll be sticking to the correct rules whilst motoring.. :)

I got flashed by a speed camera last christmas and got away with it. It might have been out of service, but I think it was a combination of fog, condensation, and 1994 reg plates. They have gone a bit dark inside with water and age, like a lot have, and while still being easily readable, in my opinion, I can imagine them giving an old gatso a challenge. They seem to have lost their reflective brilliance but still look ok in daylight.

Might be a good idea to sand new ones down with coa*** paper and encourage the normal aging process.

Doing practically double the speed limit is incredibly reckless. Why do you think the limit was 30mph? Must have been residential. Wouldn't have been at all 'lol' if you'd ploughed down a kiddie, pensioner or pet.

Heed the lesson, and SLOW down.

"Heed the lesson, and SLOW down."

Have to agree with the above, why some people think they are above the law is beyond me, why some people think its ok to speed in a limited area. i guess most people think that the limit is put there for no reason at all.

Anyone ( the OP included) who speeds in a residential /built up area is a idiot, and deserves anything they get thrown at them.

Should have their licence taken away imo however our law is to soft.
