Bmw e39 - want to upgrade is there any point - bigmennie

Hi i currently own and run a bmw e39 525d manual on a 03, i need a estate and want a auto and somthing more comfertable as well, but dont know wheather i should put up with my £6,500 bmw to buy a newer car maybe newer 5 series or audi a6 and pay round £15,000 for the one i would want.

The e39 is a brilliant car some say best bmw have made and that its better than alot of cars today as well so just wondering is it worth bothering with.

Iam a taxi driver by the way and just want somthing more comfertable for long periods of time, a auto to make my life easier and a estate so i can start doing airport runs, and the newer the car the better as well when it comes to taxi driveing for getting contract work.

Thanks

jason

Hi see i dont want to be like every taxi driver and buy a skoda iam mainly going to concentrate on airport runs thus i want somthing that has to be the top model, with leather and that.

They are good cars skoda's but no i dont think would prefer to keep to audi, bmw or mercedes but would consider the new citroen c5, ford mondeo, crysler 300c, and honda accord as i sat all in these the other day and there were good.

Hi all and i want more comments please so come on voice your opinion it will help me.

Thanks

Jason

Skoda Superb? Supposed to be a cracking car and will be a bit more upmarket than the more than capable Octavia.

I would reccomend test driving an auto as if you are used to a manual, you make not like it. BIt jerky if you ask me, and I like to decide when the vehicle changes gear. Fair enough if it's a nissan GTR for example with a dual clutch but the auto cars i've been in leave a lot to be desired, maybe BMW has it sorted though.

If you want ride comfort then the C5 you listed seems like a good pick - assuming you get a oil sprung one of course (lower spec models are steel sprung) what about a Citroën C6? Bargain hard and a 2.2 diesel auto should be within your price range. I've driven one - they are supremely comfortable.

Test drived a e60 auto estate today was a very nice the auto was fine, mauals seem to clunky for me now, auto's are generally more smoother i feel, and i can concentrate fully on direction.

I dont have to have a bmw, audi etc if say the new mondeo new c5 are well built and reliable, if anuthing iam really considering the new honda accord tourer as they are well built obviously reliable and are a nice car and infact i think the most comfertable seats i sat in.
