Vauxhall Zafira - vauxhall zafira is the 1.7d a reliable engine - austin

I own a vauxhall zafira diesel with the 1.9 150bhp engine. During my summer holiday in france the bearing in the water pump seized causing the engine to seize. The engine has been repaired by vauxhall under warranty as my car is 2 years old with 30,000 miles on the clock. The engine required a new head, new rockers, new camshafts, new waterpump and a new timing belt. I am now looking to get rid of the car and am wondering if the 1.7d engine would be a more reliable proposition. I am interested in vauxhalls new lifetime warranty and despite the problems encountered it is a good 7 seater. I am also considering a grand renault scenic.

Hello,it might just be a one off.Annything mechanical can go on the blink anytime.They have repaired the engine under warranty which is good.It depends how you feel and how the dealer has treated you.

Frankly anyone buying used Vauxhall is taking a lottery with indifferent quality and design.

There are so many cars out there reading the forums with problems the perfect car does't excist.There be plenty of vauxhall owners who are happy with their car just my opinion.

Indeed, but compared to some other manufacturers Vauxhalls are unreliable and yes of course there are plenty of reliable Vauxhalls - it's all relative.
