Will VW dealer match price>f - BobL

Wondering if any backroomers have had recent experience of if VW dealers will match or better the price of brokers for a new Golf. Tried asking today but dealer was not prepared to give a figure unless I was willing to deal there and then.(I`m still not sure of which metallic paint) I was a cash buyer no part ex. Dealer tried confusing figure by adding GAP/PAINT PROTECTION & £250 3yr servicing for approx £700+ (dicounted!)

Give them a go (Toyota wouldn't), but drivethedeal use dealers anyway so if you are buying a car like a tin of beans why bother with the hassle of dealers and their confusion marketing?

If you want the servicing package this can be sorted with the supplying dealer after you have ordered through drivethedeal.

I ordered a £22,000 Golf in June from our local VW dealer.

After a couple of weeks / test drives I indicated that I'd do the deal if he gave me 10% off to come somewhere near the brokers price.

I could have got another £130 off if I'd gone to the broker but I was happy being as the dealer will take my p/x if I can't sell it.

Thanks Berisford, that is what i wanted to hear. I was hoping that they may nearly match the drivethedeal price as my original thoughts were that I wouldn`t mind paying a litlle over the broker price for convience of local ish dealer. However after dealing with the salesman I`m not so sure. I also have a toyota and the contrast between the dealerships is an eye opener. In my situation (no trade in) I`m struggling to think of an advantage of purchasing through the main dealer

"No trade-in'.

That's the difference: I believe that most car brokers don't want the trade-in so will either not do PX or give you rock-bottom price. Brokers are worthwhile if you don't have a car to trade in; otherwise you just have to shop around the dealers for the lowest 'cost to change'.

Yes I know what you mean, the 'salesman' you find yourself dealing with, at any dealership, can sway the chances of you doing the deal.

Too many of 'em have traits and attitudes that put you off straight away.

The thorny issue of 'discount' to many of the slimier ones is too much for 'em and they see the customer as some sort of thief, stealing money from their pockets!

This is exactly how I bought my Audi. I got the broker price, showed it to them and said all you have to do is agree to this now and I'll buy from you. If not I'll just go to the broker and I might have to buy from a dealer 100 miles away. They matched the price to £50 of course. Any dealer that wouldn't are just plain stupid !

Of course I am talking about a cash deal so no PX.
