Vauxhall Corsa Club - Renew Cambelts - frankiep

Wife & daughter's cars. A 2000 X reg 1199cc 16v Petrol Hatchback and a 2003, 03 reg,973cc 12v Petrol 4 door.

A couple of mechanics have told me these models don't have cambelts that require replacing. Can you confirm please if this is true, only doubts are raised in my mind when iv'e seen comments on several websites of people having problems with broken Vauxhall Cambelts. Unfortunately both handbooks are missing. Thank you

Lift the bonnet. Cam belt engines have plastic covers at the pulley end of the engine. Cam Chain engines have metal covers at the pulley end. Both those engines are chain driven bit tooted belt. Regards Peter

They do not have cam belts tis true, but that doesnt make them a better or stronger engine.

The original cam chain tensioners go weak at around 60,000.

The makers oil changes are wrong, more importantly.

The broken camshfts do not concern your cars, just remember to change the oil.

Personally? mineral 10/40 at 3000, synth 5/40 at 6000. Dodgy little things where lubrication is all important. Only 3 litres, bit like a motorbike.
