my merc has had a flat battery & now recharged the immobiliser remains active. is there a sequence i must use to enable the car to start? i unlocked the car manually from the drivers door

I've moved this to technical, hopefully get a better response.

Which type of ignition key do you have? Is it the plastic electronic one? If so, does the ignition switch make the usual noise when you 'plug it in'? Does the barrel turn?

the key is the folding infra red type, i have both, neither work. i changed the batteries in the remote but still nothing. i undid the main battery, connected the leads to drain the system, then re connected, still nothing. the key goes in fine, the engine cranks but will not start. the green lights flash on the drivers door, but not the red, which i assume is the problem as the alarm will not arm, hence the immobiliser stays on preventing the car from starting

Disconnect the battery again.Re-connect the battery ,then turn ignition on without trying to start, then press and hold the button on the remote for a few seconds.(ignition still on)This should re-sync the key.hth

tried disconnecting battery re setting fob still no joy, i think its to do with fact the red light on door wont come on when locked, so it wont arm and hence immob stays on? the red light comes on on boot, but not drivers door it locks and unlocks fine, but refuses to start, it turns as if fuel cut out on (immob?)
